Kontras Quartet Performs on Campus Nov. 3
The Kontras Quartet will perform on the Catawba Valley Community College campus Tuesday, Nov. 3, at 7 p.m. in the Auditorium.
The Kontras Quartet is the second of four groups auditioning to become the Western Piedmont Symphony’s future string quartet in residence.
The concert at CVCC is open to the public and will be one of many opportunities for the community to see and hear the candidates before a selection is made. There is no charge for admission.
Based in Chicago, quartet members are from Russia, South Africa, Japan and Illinois. They have performed in numerous orchestral groups here and abroad, including solo performances.
The concert is part of an ongoing effort to give CVCC students more access to the arts through a partnership with the United Arts Council of Catawba County. Students receive free admission to all Western Piedmont Symphony concerts with college identification. They also have access to free tickets to plays, concerts and exhibits offered by the other Arts Council affiliates.
