JobsNow Training in 6 Months or Less
Thanks to a partnership with the Workforce Development Board and the monies allocated through federal stimulus money, CVCC has created fast-track job training programs that will help the local population complete job training as quickly as possible.
JobsNOW is for individuals who have been displaced from employment and those who are unemployed or underemployed may qualify.* Financial assistance is available for those who qualify through the Workforce Investment Act. The college has received funding to expand the Maintenance Technician Certificate program, develop programs to train the workforce in advanced manufacturing skills, and offer certification in customer service.
CVCC is focusing on programs based on local demand. Maintenance Technician Certification Programs will offer green and sustainable components. A Manufacturing Certificate will also be offered, including a module on sustainable manufacturing. The last module is an elective.
Job Seekers can choose from one of four modules in the manufacturing area:
• Lean Certificate
• AutoCAD or SolidWorks or SolidEdge Certificate
• Robotics Certificate
• Introduction to CNC Certificate
Job seekers will also receive training through CVCC's Human Resources Development Program in:
• Career Pathways
• Key Employability skills
The program is designed to give graduates an edge once they've begun their job search. Participants can earn a Career Readiness Certificate, a nationally recognized credential that shows employers that participants have the necessary skills to begin work and successfully participate in job training programs. They will also complete HRD courses - Pathways courses for each area and Career Skills for the Workplace - which teaches job seeking and job keeping skills.
Orientation sessions are held on Monday afternoons and Wednesday mornings at the Catawba County JobLink Career Center. For more information or to register for an orientation session, call the JobsNOW Hotline, 828-327-7000, ext. 4547, leave a message and you will be contacted. Or call Mark Norris, JobsNOW coordinator, 828-327-7000, ext. 4590.
*Financial assistance is available for those who are eligible.
